what do you have to do then :?: I have tried to find a diagram, but i can not. when I removed the circlip I accidentally slid the half shaft out of the diff, seemed to move easy, but i quickly put it back in and did not try to take it all the way out. ( dont get me wrong I hope i never have to replace them, as i hear they are like hens teeth :) )

The shaft doesn't come out without removing the stub.

as i hear they are like hens teeth :) )
dunsfold do actually have some on the self :D
if you ever get to see one whole then you will notice the diff end of the spline is monsterous- would be suprised to hear of anyone snapping it off in the diff !
the outer spline as you can see is like the 90's 110 spline (maybe the same ?)
mine have some wear in the outer splines which when they eventually strip ( regular job on my 110) is the same effect as a snapped half shaft ,and as it's not an easy quick fix "out in the field/side of a motorway-pull 1 out and shove a new 1 in )
then i am going to fit 2 new one's to ruth whilst it's still easy for me to unbolt hub assembly from the axle (no brake pipes yet)
haven't had the courage to tell swmbo yet  but i think £150 (for a pair) now would save alot of hassle later
cheers
jim

I bought two ENV rear half-shafts for 13 pounds each from J. Craddock's about a month ago - originally thought that it's a typo in their online shop, but a week or so later I had them at home, one of them still packed in the original wax-coated paper.

Managed to sort out a few jobs over the Easter week :) . The good weather meant that I was able to get on with some more painting, so I have added two stripes to the back. ( I am reliably informed they will increase the over all speed  It had stripes before, and I thought they would make it look a bit more breakdown truckish). So out with the masking tape and the paint roller. I put the other shock on the rear axle, i used a ratchet strap as shown to squash the rubbers enough to get the nut and washer on the bottom :!:

Image

I also mounted the gas filler. I have made a plate to fit inside the old petrol filler cap so the filler should not spoil the 1960’s look of the truck.
I also got on with the gas conversion. The regulator needs to be heated, so I bought two plastic “T” pieces to stick in the heater pipes ( the black bit in the photo). Then I thought that I did not like the idea of pipes flapping everywhere in the engine bay, soo… . I went a bit over the top and made the “red” t piece that is in the photo. This does have two isolators so that I can remove the regulator without draining down the whole system. It is also mounted on a plate that is in turn mounted on the cross member in front of the engine.( overkill i know  )

Image

I mounted the regulator its self on the bottom of the seat box. I had to make a bracket as the regulator is meant to be vertical and the seat boxes slopes forward (middle photo). I did have some trouble getting the old hoses to seal, and in the end I had to purchase a set of new hoses. Next I need to start on the gas pipework.

Ps. The regulators own bracket seemed a bit flimsy to me so i also put an M5 bolt through one of the diaphragm retaining screw holes to hold the top of the regulator still, you can just see it in the photo.

Tidy job.
I realise I still haven't phoned to talk to you with any useful advice about gas.

Damn my memory. And lack of time. Cough.
