Oddly the number plate comes up on hpi as a Mini, as do the others either side of it...a workaround registering what could be considered a "dodgy" import?

Yeah they are kinda cool. Wouldn't mind tracking one down (assuming it was a genuine ex-SEB one) but I imagine parts would be a nightmare...

I have been running a soviet ( Ukrainian) motorbike for 10 years or so and I have found that thanks to the internet most parts have become easier and easier to source. The Soviets tended not to do a lot in the way of product development (like land rover) so lots of models had the same parts for yeas and years.

(“the Beast” on a shopping trip last year.)

There are loads of them still on the road in Russia (I drove one when over there doing some green stuff; proper basic and fun) so spares would be easy!

You are quite correct that the basic vehicle is still in production (or at least was until very recently, I would have to check) but I do not know if the underpinnings are the same as the older models, I think engines etc may have changed.
