To be honest, the article is not much cop, but I will try and sort it out. It is a fantastically pretty truck, but I am not sure about the practicalities. I agree with Dan about the tyres, and id be very concerned about them “eating” the front wings off road. I had not honestly thought about the identification, ‘cos it seems to be on a new galvanised chassis so I am not sure how the dvla would look at it. right got to try and find the mag now….

To retain an ID the chassis must be a like-for-like replacement. It really depends how it has been done. The strict interpretation of the rules would mean literally every detail would have to match, a more liberal approach would allow for some minor mods such as dropped suspension or a bolt-off crossmember. It really is an open question as to when is a modified or not to spec chassis no longer considered the original or the same as the original chassis.
This kind of grey area is probably part of why they wanted to bring in that EU type ruling over modified vehicles being considered differently to historic vehicles.

I agree this is a very pretty truck but there are some questions I would want concrete answers to before I bought it.

109 One Tonne - well we know no such thing ever existed, only a 109 1 Ton or a 101 1-Tonne. Anyway, they more then likely mean a GS spec 109 judging by the Rover front axle and squared off rear crossmember.

Only very early FCs had over axles (I'm sure Das will be along with specifics soon) but 1-Tons had ENV axles front and rear from the start. It seems that some later IIAs had Salisbury axles on the back before reverting back to front and rear ENVs on early series IIIs, then changing to front and rear Salisburies. Later still the 1-Tons gained a Rover type front axle but I understand fitted with a four pinion (?) diff, rather than the usual two. As is always with the case with Landrover these changes were not always done smoothly, and in fact very few 1-Tons seem to have ever had the Rover type front axle, which was "officially" adopted in 1974, however I know of 1976 vehicles with original Salibsury front axles.

Prolly written it on here before, but:

Suffix A, Rover front and rear
Suffix B&C Rover Front, ENV Rear
Suffix D ENV Front and Rear.

IIB FC, ENV Front and Rear suffix A to E, whilst some F had Salisbury.

It's currently advertised on eBay.

£13k will secure it, and leave just enough change for a pint and a packet of crisps on the way home.

Very pretty, not sure on the ethics of it, but very pretty. Dare I say, I'd swap mine and I like to think I have summint pretty special, but then I would say that.
