70s motorway policing

Well worth a watch this, late 70s traffic policing on the M62 Yorks/Lancs. Lots of interesting vehicles about, and plenty of Range Rover action. Interesting to see that back then nobody thought twice about taking series Land Rovers on the motorway!

I enjoyed that Dan, Coppers on ice unfortunately I am off work and can not tolerate day time tv . 32 years of masonry has left me with Arthritis .

`A different world. Takes me back. Much as they're nice to see, an RR generally made no more sense as a plod-car then, than it does on the school-run today.

Er, does plod tow anything these days? Suspect not. They'd get sued.

These days you almost never see plod anyway. HATO certainly do not tow anything. Instead they just barrier off the vehicle and nearby lanes then sit in their Disco 4 watching the carnage. Only police allowed to tow to the hard shoulder apparently. The Range Rovers were very popular with police back in the day, fast, powerful and they could carry the kit and do a bit of recovery work as shown in the clip, two of them dragging an artic in the snow, impressive!
