Thanks for your kind offer, and your push with pics via FTP. As per this thread, I'm a bit vague on the Champ rim. I've seen Champs both in the flesh and pics with very deep rims, yet these were not split. I understand the split rims are pretty deep, but in truth I'm in the dark.

Another piece of the jigsaw like the one you now offer would be good. So the deepset and pics of your rims would be very useful, even if they're an irrelevance, and sorry, I'm beginning to suspect they are, these can at last be eliminated.

I still have no tight definitive on the myths around LD and Champ rims. I had 503489 as a Champ rims. I now suspect this is yet more misinformation. The good thing about this board is I can just edit and shoehorn your info in as I get it. I've already done umpteen edits.

Just a few thoughts and questions regarding the history side of things.
We know you could order a 109" on 900x16 tyres at least as early as 1960, ie, before the FC was available. Do we have any idea what rims they would have worn?

The overlap between 569204 and 569203 is interesting. Which came first, or are they contemporary? I think the latter. It looks like the first time we saw a large number of bonnetted 109" on 6.5" rims was the Shorlands, which legend has it led to the 1-Ton model (maybe, possibly..)

I'm curious why we seem to have early and late IIB rims, does this mean the even deeper type (what you call a type 9) is later then a type 8?

I have no evidence of any 1-Ton ever having been built with the older IIA FC rims, so I am not sure where that idea came from.

What about the 6.5"x15" rims as worn by Pink Panthers? Do we know anything about them?

Now, generally, you're better informed than me with respect to what-is-what. However... I had a set and was told they came from a one ton. I did not witness this. There's been so much 'swappery' if you're inclined to say this is a red-herring, I shall go with you and edit. The good thing about this board is nothing is set in stone, so edits can be done easily.

I'm about to add some comparison pix I've got hold of, so if you're minded to think you are more right than me, I'll get to it.

I certainly have nothing to back up the claim the IIA type rim was fitted to 1-Tons, in fact I don't know if it was even in production in 1968/69...

Now you've bitten the cherry off the top of my cake, these are just rims, and I don't know where I am anymore.

Some Shorlands had a dividable forged aluminium 6,50H x 16" rim. The H type rim has a 28 mm tall rim bead where the regular J type has only 17 mm rim bead height. In the pics is my 88" sporting a set of those, fitted with 255/85 R 16 tyres.

Just in case you're interested in part number and such, this is all I have. Could it be "WD" stands for War Department ?
For reference, the nuts holding the halves together are 24 mm AF.

Shorland Mk3 . Same rims as mine, made by Sankey. Bought my set of 5 brand new, army surplus in 1982.
Being a two piece rim without a recess there is no way to mount a tyre on a machine. You need to take the rim apart. Huge benefits are you can never loose a tyre due to low pressure and you can fix a flat just about anywhere. Good inner tubes and a flap are mandatory.
Not all Shorlands had these wheels but they were fitted on some 110" based Mk5's too.

Even saw a Youtube clip where a prototype 101 FC was wearing these very 5 lug rims. Yes, I know, production 101 have 6 lug rims.
