Spotted on my way to work.

Postby Wheeledbeast » Thu Apr 06, 2017 3:59 pm

Running late for work this morning :( , then the road was closed and i had to follow a diversion  .... and then i met this pulling out of a junction.

The owner said he has had the truck for many years. It had some bent tubes for carrying logs ( or somthing :?: ) on the back along with a box for assorted sundries.. The owner said it alos has a large box that goes on the back and at one time he had a whole caravan mounted behind the cab. The truck is running a perkins diesel engine with a range rover gear box.

I saw this truck many years ago at a classic car event on the Severn Valley Railway and until i bought my FC it was the only series FC i had ever seen. i have told the owner about the club and passed on my contact details i hope he gets in touch :D

I think this image may be the same Forward control with the caravan

May be we will here from him soon, it certainly brightened up my trip to work. :D

Not really when you consider it could well be just a collection of various parts put together. That looks like an extended wheelbase to me as well.

I think its running on smaller tyres which makes the proportions look strange.

Small tyres or not, that ain't no 109" -or 109 3/4"- wheelbase.

DVLA says:
Vehicle details
Vehicle make LAND ROVER
Date of first registration July 1971
Year of manufacture 1959
Cylinder capacity (cc) 3300 cc
CO₂Emissions Not available
Fuel type DIESEL Export marker No Vehicle status
Tax not due
Vehicle colour GREEN
Vehicle type approval Not available
Wheelplan 2 AXLE RIGID BODY
Revenue weight 3499kg

year of manufacture 1959 :!: first registration July 1971 :!: Certainly sounds a bit odd, given that we know it has a range rover box and a Perkins engine it could well be a home made special.
