Hi All,

My earlier subscription (along with all my posts) seems to have expired. I thought you might like to see how my One Ton Truck looks now after it was repainted for its role in a play put on by the local amateur dramatic society, a production of 'The Darling Buds of May' where it appeared as Pop Larkin's blue truck! Up to a few weeks ago I used to live at the farm where the TV series was filmed, and I offered the location to the Am Dram group when they said they were doing an outside production of it at another location. One thing lead to another and my One Ton (22900156H) ended up being featured. I have videos of the production by the way.

The real reason for getting in touch is that I now live on a bus route which gets gritted regularly when cold so cannot justify keeping a Land Rover for not getting snowed in, and now I have only 7/8 ths of an acre instead of 35 acres, I don't need it for the land either. I would like to know how much I should ask for it. It comes with a Harvey Frost crane and a spare 6 cylinder Land Rover petrol engine just like the one in it. I restored it, new galvanised chassis covered in anti chip paint for extra protection, bulkhead removed and restored including new floor sections, rebuilt engine, some panel work, five new tyres, new springs (original type, a big mistake as suspension is rock hard without a load on the back), new shocks and check straps, new brake servo, new brakes throughout in fact, new clutch and both cylinders, new fuel tank, new fuel pump, new rear cargo floor with new strips etc. On the road, taxed, MOTed, drove it 40 miles up from Bethersden to Allhallows a few weeks ago. Bodywork in 'playworn' condition but sound and mostly original. Might sell engine and crane separately if nobody interested in it all. Tends to pull to one side a bit until brakes used a few times but the way I drive it I hardly ever use the brakes except in an emergency. Probably easy to fix to get through another MOT.

So what's it worth?

Anyone interested?

Please at least update the old photo in the list of One Tons (22900156H).

I can provide more detailed photos later, when the snow has melted and the biting cold wind has dropped.

Roger Holmes.

Hi Roger and welcome to the new forum. Sadly our old one was lost some months ago and all the information on it vanished. I will update the photos now I have a new one, if you have any more you would like to submit that would be great.
It might be an idea to make an advertisement for your vehicle in the for sale section if you have not already done so.

seller seems to have lost or broken the item.

Just wondering, did he loose it to someone here?

Guilty

I'd been looking out for one for a year or so since kicking myself that I didn't make the effort to get up north and look at Toms one ton when it was for sale February last year (before he bought it).

This is actually the first entire I'd seen for sale since then. It was restored in the mid naughties has been kept on the road since then, first impressions are good, steering gbox and brakes all well behaved, engine seems ok, maybe misfiring a bit at speed (tappet clearances or timing I'm hoping) but still pulls wells.

Iii try and get a few pics uploaded at the weekend
