For your interest teh twin box exhaust - up until recently Rimmers did an S/S version:

Was an option and std on the Swiss market (for reasons I know not?) The Dutch had these as std. on Ambulances etc.

Switzerland had and has much lower maximum vehicle noise standards than most of the rest of Europe, that is why the Tdi could not be sold there on the early Discoveries, and so they only got the V8s. Would explain the twin box set-up as well.

OK, I suspected it had to be something to do with local regs, now I know. Ta. On mine, there's heaps of noisekiller, everywhere else, a gearbox and bonnet blanket, a Wright-Off-Rad matt system, Late Anti-burst locks to stop the rattling (and I have a boy). I understnd the twin box became standard on the last of the S3 models. Rocky-mountan door-tops to stop the whistling in your ear. My doors thunk shut.

It is quiet, but then quiet is my thing.

My better half is Portuguese, I don't remember what quiet sounds like. ;)

Put her in the Sankey.

Since that pic I've got my spare on the rear door again, it rattled too much. I've since found out that S3 doors have a dove-tail to wedge teh door and mine lacked such a thing. Now fitted, and it stopped that rattle.

I think noise has become my compulsion. Is it a sign of mental illness Doc?

Possibly so as not to interrupt the gentle ticking and occasional crowing of the lesser spotted Cuckoo clock?
