I'm a newbie so feel free to flush my head down the toilet.

The Avon Rangemasters on my LWB rims are shot and require replacing. I'm looking at that sweet deal at ATS for aprox 90 quid a corner.

But before I hastily purchase, I require your jedi super skills. Can I only use tubes on my rims? The codes on the rims are...NRC7578, FV2000727. If not then why, godammit? What's gonna happen? Exploding tyre when I get the magic 52mph top speed?

The general view is that wheels of riveted construction cannot be used with tubeless tyres as basically the wheels are not airtight. This only changed on later coiler rims which were welded. Some photos might help us advise?

The other issue is that tubeless rims have a shoulder around both sides which help to keep the bead of the tyre correctly located, especially if you lose pressure.

You can also be pretty sure that if the worst happened and there was an incident caused by a tyre failure, a canny vehicle inspector would pick up on it and your insurance would be invalid. Worse though, an incorrect match of rim and tyre has the potential to hurt people, so think carefully!

Or do you require internal rim pics, if so I'll get some spoons out of the kitchen drawer and pull a tyre off!
