This is probably a very daft question, however - I have a set of deep dish FC rims on 900s on my IIA FC, but now have a spare set of FC rims also on 900s, does anyone know if these would fit a lightweight or if they would be too big, cause too much drag, wear, hit the body, look stupid etc? It is on prarabolics. Thanks

I have seen a lwt with a set on, so they do fit...somehow. I thought it looked a bit daft myself.

I think it would look cool A bit like those portugise swimmers they made,but i think with the narrow axels the stering lock might suffer

As a member of the self-appointed Taste-Police, I've not seen it, but it's too easy to lean towards the 'it's only missing it's coin-slot' look. And I reckon on a LWT it could just tip in the wrong direction. Yet...



Not a LWT and these might not be 9.00s but this looks great. Subtleties to lift an S1 away from the now too predictable green lines of concours S1 you see at shows is a good thing. He's thought to shy away from one more sticker, and somehow it looks 'right'.
Along with the kinda' thing that's kept its 40-55 year old patina, this is a real LR.

Do deep dish rims on normal Land-Rovers look cool? Yes they do. Sadly that fact alone has pushed the prices of them beyond the reach of many. 900x16 tyres though are not usually a good idea. They are expensive, have poor wear rates and are usually only available in a compromise pattern something equivalent to an all-terrain. Considering the massive range of good quality tyres available now in sizes like 235/85R16 I don't see why anyone would actually want 900x16s unless you have a 101, FC or 1-Ton and want to keep the "historic" appearance.

Wasn't sure what those were. Didn't look like 9.00s. However, the sad reality is, I am forced to agree with all of that. 9.00s can't be good. And I can't imagine you can be poor and go out to buy a decent S1 anymore either.

This started in anger about 6-7 years ago, with the classic car royalty of 60s Ferraris etc etc, and down the food-chain from there. And the genie won't go back in the bottle.

To some degree I blame myself, nobody was talking about these rims (or even these vehicles) as recently as ten years ago or even less. Now, every half-serious Land Rover owner claims they want a 1-Ton (most of them don't really) but they sure do want these rims...

900's on a lightweight will fit. It's up to you to say if looks right.
Do make sure you upgrade your brakes to SIII 11" drums and vacuumbooster. You need a whole lot more stopping power due to a larger radius and more momentum in those big heavy tires.
