Stat housing seems to be a 2 ¼ one that has been modified carefully with an angle grinder , I guess the stat housing on a rover P4 ( that’s where the engine is from) was not suitable for the land rover, either that or it was missing from the second hand engine

Battery Box all done ( well, may be it will get some paint later). Starting battery and reserve hence the S and R


the electrics are taking a bit longer than I thought they would ( just like every thing else has )

Cleaned off the front panel ready for spraying, you can see the original factory grey where the lights have been.

I have rubbed down the wings too. You can see all the colours here, factory grey, followed by orange (may be an undercoat), followed by maroon, thenfluorescent orange ( I think this was a jam butty stripe), followed by yellow. No sign of the light blue found on other parts of the vehicle.

And making a start with the primer.

The bad, the worse and the ugly

Here is my latest invention/ abomination. I have replaced the (Brocken) pushrods on the throttle with a cable.

As you can see from the picture it is made of old bicycle bits. The cable its self is a bicycle rear brake cable, but it is only just long enough. I had to extend the outer by about 8 inches to make it reach. I will investigate the possibility of a Tandem bicycle cable, but they might be expensive ( i.e. more than £3). I have used the old throttle springs on the silver washer on the back of the pedal assembly, so the cable its self is not doing much work. It all seems okay so far, although there is a lot of travel in the foot pedal. I will report back when I have used the system in anger.

Trying to work out where you've got that mounted. Can't be the bulkhead?

LHS picture is between the drivers foot well and the radiator.The rod at the bottom of the picture is coming from the pedal. The right hand side picture is looking through "middle Seat/bonnet" the mounting bracket I have used is the old mounting bracket for the push rod assembly turned through 180 degrees to point up rather than down. ( the push rod bracket looks like a home made job from some earlier mods/ repairs to the pushrod). I have run the cabl past the bottom of the gearstick cross member ( floor mounted gear stick) and through the old push rod mount the comes off the front of the engine near to the dianamo/alternatior.

Here is the front panel ready and wired up. I have ditched the sealed beames in favor of H4's.I used a trailer 7 pin socket along with some heavy duty cable to wire up the front, the idea was I could remove the panel quickly if I needed to work on the front end. Unfortunately looking at the rigmarole it takes to connect the panel round the radiator I am not sure this is really going to work, but it has made quite a neat if non original job all the same.
