One I keep hearing but have never seen is that on older vehicles with smaller wheel nuts, the wheels will fall off with the nuts still attached to the studs.

Anyone know any others?
You may snigger at this one but I have a IIA FC rim here which had to have two holes welded-around and re-countersunk (expensive :o ). Both had radial fatigue cracks - so the story has a modicum of truth...
