9.00x16 equivalents

Does anybody have experience running true 900-16 XZL, so not the later 255/100 type on a 1-ton?
They appear (well they are) considerably larger and moreover, they are wider than the familiar NATO item
Have the strong suspision they will fit a FC, but will not clear the wings/tub on 1-ton. Espesially on 569203's
So before I go out and have them mounted just for a trial fit...
And also the look.... not sure I want to go for the wheel loader look on this.
For now I'll get the XY 900-16's (lower picture left tyre) mounted, but find them a bit becoming to look at, however they may actaully be a very good choice for drivability. (and this is the set mounted on rims and holding air, which helps shifting it around )

Like the XZL's though, may try to find a set of 8.25-16 (talking about hens teeth) if this doesn't work.

What are you doing with that XS tyre? And your camacs for that matter?

The one in your top pic looks too big to me. I think I had one on my 1-Ton when I first got it, very close to the bodywork from what I recall, but it was on the back, would probably have rubbed if it was up front, I get occasional rubbing with XS's which are quite a bit smaller.

Depending on what you are looking for, most 255/85x16 tyres will do the job for less money and weight. Better handling and comfort too.
I have recently tossed the 9.00's for a fresh set of 255/85 and am more than happy with them.

Another option that has become apparent recently, is the Silverstone MT-117 in 285/85r16.

A 34" tyre available from around £106 each, a bloody good price by any measure.

Bought the Silverstones too, after Ranger on this forum mentioned them.
BUT be aware that these won´t fit a FC´s ( IIb) rearaxle, as the will not clear the springs, so you need spacers on the rear axle.

Silverstones don't look to shabby as an offroader. What rims are you using? Like my 569203's, but they do take your tire another 20mm closer to the body over a 569204. So fingers crossed it will work on a 1-ton (ranger has them on an FC right?)

Anyhow, as to Dan's question, I think the XS will end up as my spare, as for now I only have 4 of XY's available. Will post you when plans change. The camacs (different brands) have all been regrooved and are pretty dry. So may not be worth the shipping cost. I'll PM you some pictures if interesed.

To bad for the XZL's. But not to hard to find another home for those I think.

I suspect the Silverstone's would fit a IIB fairly well with a set of wider rims.
If nothing else they have the advantage of being a decent size, and an affordable price.

I know a chap in the series 2 club who has them on his IIA FC, I'll ask his opinion on them.

Here's some pics of my fresh set of 255/85R16 Maxxis Bighorns. Rims are 6,5" wide. Tyre is 33" tall.
Weight of one tyre is 25 Kg, compared to 42 Kg for a 900x16 that's a lot of rubber you don't have to pay. Compared to the 900's they are more comfortable too as they are rated for a lot less axle load. 2700 for these to 3400 Kg for 900's.

Opinions on the Silverstone MT177 from Jim Gardner, the chap with them on his IIA FC.

The silverstones are very good with a very aggressive tread pattern.
They seem ok in the wet or dry but generate lots of road noise, but they look the part and do everything they're supposed to, and are fairly cheap.

A fairly decent review?
