I have finally got around to putting the new aluminium panel on the rear end of the IIA Forward Control. I have also had to move and re wire lots of the electrics as I have fitted a new rear fuel tank( in the space where I had put lots of the electrics ). I have fitted a Land rover series II or III station wagon type tank. (You can just see it poking out on these photos). I originally had plans to try and modify a 110” tank, but it was just getting too complicated and series three tanks are available off the shelf.



I have also splashed out o a spare wheel. I could not afford the correct rim, so I got a cheep (ish) modular wheel form fleaybay . ( actually I got two, because the first one I was sent turned out to be a 15” ). I have bunged one of my old cross ply tyres on to the rim, not ideal , but in an emergency it will hopefully get me home.



Now i need to sort out a jack, a wheel brace and a starting handle to go with it.

Oh dear, i had not thought of that. ( The thing is there is already some aluminium plates on the rear wheel arches that are a tiny bit chequeredered )

I have not made much progress recently, what with dark nights and cold weather , I have however started to get all the kit sorted. I have made a spare wheel bag out of some damp course polythene (I welded the polythene together with a soldering iron, then went over the seams with some gaffer tape). The Idea is to try and keep the spare dry and clean (not rusty ). I have also invested in a Heavy duty Bottle jack which I have wrapped in polythene and cable tied into the spare. If I am unlucky enough to need it the jack should be with it. You can also see the spare in situ in the photo thanks to the huge hole in the floor . The nut for the spare wheel clamp was missing so I have welded a length of M10 studding to the shaft and put a metric wing nut on there. Just need to find a way of opening the door to the spare now .

On the subject of holes in the floor… This photo shows the holes in the wheel arches that had been patched up with chequer plate by a previous owner. I was not me honestly .



Also on the chav front; I have been reliably informed by some young people that the way to make your car “Well sick in’it” is to put a pair of tight s over your lights. This is obviously a modification I will be considering as a cheeper alternative to chequer plate and modular wheels in the future .

Right I think I have nailed this. I have put tights over the lights and I am reliably informed that this makes cars look sick



Oddly the young people that advised me to do this seemed particularly unimpressed . I guess I am not as down wit da yout as I thought I would be .

Always could come in handy if it gets a bit nippy in the cab don't put them over your head I am not sure if it would make a good getaway motor
