Good, Bad Or Ugly?

Postby Wheeledbeast » Fri Sep 20, 2013 3:51 pm

I thought I might kick of a bit of discussion by asking for some opinions on this vehicle. It is featured in LRMs freebe extra bit. It’s a 107 station wagon (quite a rare beast). The running gear (including the 900s) came from a 1 ton( another rare beast) and the engine is from a Mazda (I think). So it is clearly not original, and is an amalgamation of two (three if you count the Mazda) rare/classic vehicles? So is it a recipe for a great land rover or an abomination? What do you think?

Errr....

Well I guess the concept is kinda of cool, but I wouldn't wreck two very rare and seldom seen vehicles to achieve it. It appears to be a military chassis though, but axle looks to be ENV. I don't see how it can get an MOT with the wheels stuck out of the side of the body like that either.

I wonder which is rarer, a 1-Ton or a 107" SW...probably a close call.

I do kind of like it, but I wouldn't have done it in the way they did. I'm also not convinced that it has been registered correctly, as it should be running the 1-Ton ID, not the Series 1.

ignoring the rights and wrongs, i think it's beautifal!! an absolute cracker! IIRC it was put together from odds and sods from here and there, as the builder collected the parts rather than broke up the original vehicles to combine them? is that correct wheeledbeast? i can't find my copy of the mag.

If the engine is what I'm thinking of (Mazda SL35T) then it'll be a stonking good motor.

The one in my 110 is stunningly good.

I really like that the bodywork hasn't been restored.

That would mean buying the magazine.

Surely someone else might be willing though?
