I could do with some advice on an engine chane in an FC please - I get this is not an uncommon question but my truck is weird so things get really hard.
Basically the fire engine body is built around a steel frame - its coach built double skinned, ply on the inside, ali on the outside - the problem is the steel frame is WELDED to the chassis, there is no way of getting it off without serious destruction.
This means any engine has to go up between the chassis rails, so, assuming the engine is bare, what goes up? Tdi, TD5 and/or a '38 diesel?
Any help sincerely appreciated

I'd have thought most inline Land Rover engines would go up in from the bottom with the front axle removed.
I'd have thought you'd want to do something with the bellhousing crossmember to make it removable as it will make the job much easier.
I'm putting an M57 along with a GS6-37DZ and LT230 into my IIB, it'll be going in the top, but with a bit of fettling and the front axle out of the way it could be made to go in from underneath.
If you have the cab floors and seat box out it's surprisingly roomy to work in there.
Not quite as nice as a bare chassis but more than you'd expect.
