Prop driven cooling fan question

Postby Corroded66 » Mon Sep 13, 2021 9:59 am

Hi all,
At the Peterborough show this weekend I got talking to a 2B FC owner and he advised I remove my engine/propshaft driven fan and go electric - apparently the system can wear the water pump bearings very quickly and the pump is no longer available?
Seems a shame to lose the originality to me.
Can anyone comment on:
Pump wear with prop driven fan
Pump availability
Cheers

Hello Theodor,
I would keep the shaft. Make sure the shaft is balanced. Keep a regular check on the pump, and if the pump wears, the bearing is the same as all S2-S3 4&6 cly engines (RP#523354)
