Just a quick note to introduce my self.
I have been involved with land rovers for over 25 years,
Buying ,Owning, Using, Wrecking and fixing, and not Necessarily in that order.
I have been around Forward Controls for 20 years and have owned 3 in the last 15 years.
I still have the best one I've owned 3310439D.
It's slow, it's noisy, And it works hard.

Looks fantastic, but I bet that series 1 is a bit drafty

Hi Taz
I think you're missing a "0" in that chassis number. Do you know its original sales history?
I do! Bet it doesn't have any termites.

Re: G'day from Australia
Just to prove an 80" fits on the back no problem...
Looks like a nice solid truck though, is it still a six cylinder, or is there something more exotic making it go?
Anyways, welcome. I look forward to seeing any more photos or stories you have to share.

Re: G'day from Australia
Yes I forgot a "0".
Chassis no 33100439D
I bought this Forward Control form Warhope safaris in Australia.
It was been used as a mobile kitchen, and was told that they preferred to keep it, but it was costing lots in maintenance.
It had a massive tray that hung past the rear cross member by half a meter and out the sides past the cab by 150 mm. The old tray was rusty and home made, and was cashed in at the steel merchant, It weighed in at just under half a tonne.
Other that that I don't know any more about its history.
It currently has a Holden six cylinder in it. Replacing the original six.
And I am about to replace that with a 300tdi and lt77 with a Ashcroft adaptor
Maybe then it will be able to maintain a decent speed on the open road.

Hi Taz
The vehicle 33100439D Engine number 33001232A was delivered to W.A. Flick & Co. (the pest control mob) on the 16th July 1973.
On the conversion, why not keep the LT77/LT230 with a Defender 1.41:1 ratio for the 300Tdi. The Defender ratio box will be give you a first gear a little bit higher than the original F/C box, but in low ratio will actually be slightly lower than than the original box.
I have already done the CV conversion on the front end of my SADF SIIB and Barry Ward from Hi-Tough Engineering (prev maxidrive axles) now has the brooches and specs to make specials to mate the Stage 1 CV to the ENV diff.

Re: G'day from Australia
No photos, but they had quite a lot of them, they eventually became Rentokill so someone may have info or photos.
I would imagine they had a large tank some sort of pump and hose reels etc.
