Hola from sunny Mallorca

Hi all,

Name is Norm. From Scotland, been in Mallorca since '88. Landie history:-

1966 LWB 109 Camper
1965 SWB Hardtop
1964 109 FC :2b: same as this one!
1963 109 FC Fire truck
1977 LWB Pickup (The 'Daktari' model if anyone else is old enuff...)
1984 Santana SWB Lightweight (in Spain)
A few others I can't remember exactly.

Currently: 1976 101 FC Malcolm Whitbread Trials special, currently refurbishing.

Hello from the dry bit of the UK ( the south) is the 101 trials vehicle you talk about the coil sprung one, if so I remember seeing that being trialled !!!

Hi Norm, nice to see you made it here. Interested to see pictures of Land Rovers past and present.

Sean, there were at least 3 Whitbread 101's (possibly 5, my memory is a bit lax) of which Norms truck was the first built, and the only V8 powered one of the bunch.
From what I remember the engine and gearbox hang lower in the chassis, and were about a foot further back than standard to help the weight distribution.

At least one of them did some comp events in the mid 90s whilst I've also seen pictures of a pair of them doing team recovery, again in the mid 90's, at an ARC national event.

Didn't know there were more than 1 of them Das, Im pretty sure it was the V8 one that I saw trialling etc in the ninetys, OMG that seems like a lifetime ago :shock:
