Hello from Ireland

Postby DanC » Wed May 03, 2017 9:56 pm

Hi there,
Having done some casual research on line into the Land Rover I have garaged for the last 18 odd years I came across this site. It is pictured alongside a number of old fire engines in one of the pictures I came across on the site. The chassis number is 22200006 G so pretty sure it's a 1 Ton. It was purchased new as a fire/ rescue tender by the then Whitegate Oil Refinery in 1971 and I purchased it from them to become its second owner. I am planning on pulling it out in the next few months to blow the cobwebs off and see what's needed to get it on the road. Will keep ye updated on progress. Great site by the way, loads of info on the 1 ton.
Regards,
Dan

Hello, yes that chassis number is for a 1-Ton Land-Rover, would love some photos and more information.

I know the photo you mean but I can't seem to find my copy right now!

Hey guys,
Couple of photos attached, sorry, not sure why they seem to have changed orientation when attaching. As ye can see needs a bit of tlc but it's all there apart from the Land-Rover 110 rims. Planning on moving it to a garage closer to where I'm living to allow me assess what's needed to get it on the road again. Mileage is low as it was only ever used on the Refinery site and was garaged every night. It even came with the original Series II&IIA Workshop Manuals and Parts catalogue so they should come in handy!

That looks brilliant! I'm surprised to see there was no heater!

I suspect someone sold off the rims, they do make good money unfortunately. Do you have any in-service photos, and are you keeping it as a fire tender?

I have enquired about any in service photos but as yet have not been able to get my hands on any. I am planning on keeping it as a fire tender, it's part of its character. It was literally on stand-by right up to the day it was replaced so the pump was fully functional. So hopefully no major mechanical problems to tackle.

Do you have a copy of the photo of it with the other engines? I know I had a copy but cannot find it. :(

It will be nice to see it back on the road, there are a handful of 1-Ton fire tenders still about, one is in France (ex UK vehicle) and a few in Portugal. There is another in Norway too.

The photo I have is from Google images which shows my 1 ton outside the fire station in Whitegate. Granted looking a tad cleaner than it does at the moment!!
