I've attracted a bit more attention in the past few days as I'm currently running around in an 86" Series I.
Anyways, I came out of Tesco earlier on to see this machine come into the car park.

It belongs to Mike Pitter of Ditton Overland, a thoroughly nice chap who was just as interested in the old crate I'm driving as I was in his machine.

It's running a 200 Tdi sans turbo running a Series I gearbox converted to use a series II bellhousing as it offers the advantages take of larger input bearings.
Series II axles and conversion to pendant type pedals round out the major departures from standard.
Half expecting a visit from him at the workshop through the week as he's interested to see what I've got going on.
Thought you all might appreciate it though, it's only the third one I've ever seen in the metal.

I would give my back wheels to drive that, I don't use them anymore anyway. ;)
